Day 11: Espinosa to Cardeñuela Riopico
It was a very atmospheric walk first thing this morning - the mist was thick
Then from Villfranca the path began to climb, and it was a great trip through the forest. I could see the mist down in the valley through the trees, but no detail of what was below
The path was full of puddles and mud, reflecting all the recent rain (from memory M&K climbed this section in the rain, so I had it a bit easier)
The sun came out for a while, in time to see a monument to those who lost their lives here in 1936 during the civil war...
... and in time to meet Dr Coffee, also known as Angel - with a clown nose, a love of birds, and a desire to be able to fly...
...but at Agés the heavens opened, and remained open for business until I got to my albergue in Cardeñuela Riopico. So I have very few photos of my climb up a rocky path beside a military no go zone with a cross at the top, and those that I've got were taken in the rain
I enjoyed the walk and views, in spite of getting wet socks for the first time this trip. The albergue here appears to be fine, despite the mixed reviews it has received in the past
