Day 19: Reliegos to León

Theme of the day: rain. It rained lightly, mediumly, and heavily all the way to León. My poncho is very difficult to get on (over my pack) without help, so I ended up walking the whole 24km without stopping

Not many photos sorry, and the ones I took were themed - i e in the rain

Mural depicting the 17kg  meteor landing in Reliegos in 1947
Long straight pathway next to the road. Again!
Sculpture representing tired peregrinos in the first village I walked through (Mansilla de las Mulas). Can you spot the wistful look on the peregrino who photo-bombed the sculpture?
Old walls protecting the town
Yay León, over 25km by the time I found the apartment!
I found today pretty tiring - perhaps a combination of a long walk yesterday, walking without stopping for a proper breakfast or lunch tiday, and a bit of a cold I picked up yesterday

It was awesome to catch up with M&K, it really is something quite special. We are sharing a two-bedroom Airbnb apartment for the next two nights - tomorrow is a'rest' day
Also enjoyable catching up with some of the old gang on WhatsApp. My apologies for forgetting what time it was in NZ

  1. Sounded a long tough day. I laughed and relooked at the "canal in the dark" photo of yesterday ... and yes, it is a cleverly lit bridge (let's blame that on 'me aging eyes' :-). Fav photo today is the photo bombing peregrino who bears a remarkable likeness to a friend of ours ... hmmm. Also the old walls. Wishing you all lovely rest day.
