Day 27: O Cebreiro to Triacastela
The weather forecast was not too bad, but the said weather forecast was not too accurate
What goes up must come down. So (a) yesterday's climb up to O Cebreiro was matched by the downhill to Triacastela - although it was gentle for the most part, and (b) it drizzled all the way, so not many photos
The trail down was 'moody' in the mist and the rain
It went through several working farm villages - you could tell that they were working by the deposits littering the path, the 'country' smell, and the occasional mooing from inside the buildings by the road
I passed the 150km marker today; Santiago is starting to feel close. The shin splints behaved themselves, although I could certainly feel them on some of the steeper descents. Have to keep on the drugs!
Apparently somewhere near here, Cova de Eirós is a cave containing evidence of simultaneous habitation of Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens in the region (the only example of this so far found in Spain)
Totally love the wee car which is nearly as small as the wheelie bin its in front of. Farm buildings make excellent photos. Glad to hear shin splints manageable. Equipment post very interesting.
